In Conclusion

The trouble with kittens is that
Eventually they grow up to be cats.

OGDEN NASH, 1902-1971

Whimsical as the two lines above are, truth prevails. My two cats, Frankie the Calico and Johnnie the Tabby are now seven years old. I’m sorry that I never had a camcorder to archive their play, their closeness in greeting me (some of the chapters in this book speak to that point) during the years we have been sharing our home and in recording their changing habits. However, the many photos taken with a still or digital camera put a perspective on their beauty as well as on their evolvement into adult cats. The abundance of photos that grace this book help me in remembering their growth into the two loving felines they are today.

As an 88 year old human nearing 89 in my long lifetime, I made many habit changes. Cats are no different.. All of God’s feline creatures form habits and if they are fortunate to live long enough some or many of those habits are certain to change from their early kittenish behavior into adulthood.

While the cats no longer share the closeness they had during their first year as residents in the Weiss household, other habit changes took place as they matured. Looking back in my mind’s eye, I cannot but help remember the joyful exuberance and playfulness these little felines displayed in lifting my spirits almost immediately after their adoption.

For me it was an awakening that whatever went before, now that new life was to share my home, things would change for the better. Living alone, in a sort of depressive way due to Evelyn’s passing, the invigorating companionship of these two young felines would be a welcome relief from the doldrums I had been experiencing.
